The "S" Is Back & In THE MAN OF STEEL!

Before you keep reading and if you are NEW or forgot how I rate the movies, check this out this link first: http://themoviesguy007.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-start-of-me-reviewing-movies.html

Superman: It's not an S. On my world it means hope.
Lois Lane: Well, here, it's an S.
Me: Well, you are a Bitch...

It's FINALLY HERE!!! Time to put on my cape, with the S on my chest and FLY! I tell ya, FLY!!! Some of you might knows and some of you don't know, but I am a HUGE Superman fan. I got dozen of t-shirts, cups, key chain, The cape (with the shirt), comics and even my Truck is a Superman Truck! So, before we go any further about this movie. I want to tell you about Superman in movies...

As some of you might know Superman is one of the BIGGEST icon superheroes today, but he is also the "Blueprint" to others superheroes. If there wasn't Superman, we might not have Batman, Aquaman, Spider-Man or any superheroes because Superman is the "Blueprint" and really the start to love Superheroes. So If Superman is the "Blueprint" of Superheroes it should be an easy person to make into a movie, right? WRONG! Superman is the hardest (again with feeling) HARDEST superhero to transfer from the comic book to the big screen. Yes, Superman is the blueprint for the modern heroes. However, Superman is a hero that reflects the potential in all of us for the greater good; the shine of light in times that are dark and also, the glimmer of hope for the hopeless. He's an archetype for us to project upon. People see him as a messiah or just a BIG Blue Boy-scout. His Kryptonian S recognizable as a universal symbol for Truth and Justice. That right, Superman DO NOT kills unless he is force to do so. Once, he does, he get torns up and live with it as a regret. That is why it is easy to make other heroes movies dark, killing, not really a blueprint and etc. For example, Batman, Wolverine and Spider-man can be dark, killing and not really live up to the "blueprint".  If one of these big things about Superman was remove he is not Superman at all. Oh, by the way this year (2013) is Superman 75th Birthday...

Go to HELL Tomatoes...
Now back to the movie. As you can tell the movie reviews site "Rotten Tomatoes" is being really hush about this movie giving it 58% out of 100% (according to right now as Im typing this). However, the fans reviews is 82%, but IMDb giving it a 8.4/10 which, I trust my guts with the fans than the so called "critic". When the day came I went to the night movie (I couldn't go to the midnight because I had to work in the early AM) I was waiting in line for the movie and 3 people came out from the earlier times of the movie. I had to know how was it. So, I went ear dropping to listen what they said. All 3 of them agreed that Iron Man was better. I was getting nervous about it once I heard it, but then I heard this "Iron Man can beat Superman with one hit..." Okay, now I know they don't know NOTHING about Comic book or the outline of Superman. So, I went in the movie with still hopes. The movie is 2 hours and  a half long, but before I tell you if it good or bad. I am going to tell you my thoughts about the main actors and actress then the good and the bad part about the movie.

There are really 4 main character in the movie, There is Superman (Kal-El), Lois Lane, Jor-el (Superman's father) and Zod (or should I say "General Zod").

here to stay...

First off, Superman or in this movie they said Clark Kent and even Kal-el a lot, but saying "Superman" toward the end of the movie was play by  Henry Cavill. He killed it as Superman, when you see him in the Superman suit, you will might agreed with me "that guy is Superman" His talk, walk/fly or anything as Superman. If they make a 2nd one (which they will) he better still be Superman.

She looks like a Lois to you?

or does she?
The second came is Lois Lane, the sexy reporter for the Daily Planet played by Amy Adams (yes, the "girlfriend" from The Muppet). At first when I heard she was casting for the role, I was nervous because first is the hair (she never had it black) and second she doesnt seem like a Lois type. If it was me picking Lois, I will choose Ercia Durrance from Smallville (yea, she HOT!). After seeing Man of Steel, I did ate my words and was happy about the pick. I was even okay with the blond/orange hair!

Russell Crowe
Okay, the next one is Jor-el, which it is Superman "Real Father" played by Russell Crowe. As you looks at the Trailer, you can tell he wont be in the movie a lot, but you dead on...he in it a fair amounts. I like him as Jor-el, but as a HUGE fanboy of Superman. I will LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Christopher Reeve as Jor-el if he was still alive, wouldn't you? (they gotta make the body CGI, but being the first 4 Superman movies...it make sense).

KNEEL!!!
Finally, General ZOD! "So kneel before ZOD!" (oh wait, he didn't say that in the movie!) is the main villain of this movie, he is from Krypton as well with Jor-el and Kal-el, but he the evil of it because mainly he want to rule the world. Zod was played by Michael Shannon. When I first heard he was playing "Zod" I was really pumped since he can play a good bad guy. After seeing the movie, he was okay, I mean at first he was good then in the middle he was okay, but toward the end he was good again. I am guessing he was not fully ready and correcting his character well. because The movie was delayed half a year and not much times to make it. I can see why they put ZOD in and not LEX...Lex was getting burn out from the past Superman movies.

Overall, I enjoy the characters of the movie.

Now let talks about the good parts and the bad parts about this movie...first off the good parts.

THE GOOD PARTS!

Fly! Fly! FLY!
Let face it, Superman was dead after "Superman's Return" (MY GOSH, what a shit ass movie that was!). That movie almost killed my childhood hero. If they had kept beating the shit out of it, I will become a 100% Batman fan. Lucky, they didn't. Like, I said earlier, Critic are hating this movie because it a little dark than the other Superman movies. Well, I think it good they went a little dark with it because if they kept it Good shine like they did the all 5 superman movies, it will be boring. They still went along with the comic, but a darker vision of the comic book. Other hating are too much graphic in this movie. I could go both ways with that part, but it kinda works with this movie. I mean how are you going to make a laster, breaking building and sc-fi effects not graphic? Some Critic hated Superman feeling humans than his "real self". I think it great that they made him "human" For example, *only spoiler here* If you find out you are flying...will you keep a straight face and be like "I KNOW IM FLYING, NOW I'M OFF TO SAVE THE WORLD"? or will you be happy and be like this "OMG IM FLYING YAYAYAYA!"? Me...the second answer, for sure. The last thing, is the ending...The critic had a holy shit part at the end between Zod and Superman, but I am not going to explain it here, but I love how it turns out at the end between them. It almost felt like a set up for #2...should I do a spoiler review about why I think the ending was good? Leave it in the comment below...

***SIDE-NOTE***

Zack Snyder
Remember, who making this movie, The guy name is Zack Snyder, he a really graphic guy. He made 300, Watchman, Remake of Dawn of the Dead and Sucker Punch (Well, let not talk about the last one). If you cant handle his graphic then you might not like this movie. Also to answer your question about Nolan making this movie a "make over" batman? The answer is No, not close, this is straight up a Snyder's movie. However, Nolan did some good storyline in this movie (he will be back as a producer for the 2nd).

THE BAD PARTS...

Stop fighting already!!!!
There is only 3..in my views that are really minors in this movie, but after thinking about it. I nailed it down to one, but I will tell you all 3 problems I had. The first one was the "chop up part", when you watch the movie, you will feel some was chopped up and put in there. However, for me after a while I got used to it and called it "The artist style" (I know it a lame saying, but...). The second was the talking. Some of the part of the movie, they talk for a long times I was almost begging for a fight scene. However, when I was driving home and thinking about this movie, the talking was really important in the movie. I mean once you watch it...you will be like BORRRRING, but sleep on it for a while, you will be like "OH! it is important to put it there". The last bad thing, and this is really the main bad part was the fight scenes, I know SHOCKING!!!! Okay, here the deal, I love a good fight, but don't drags it on...this movie dragged the fight on a little much in my view. maybe I like it simple with a medium fight...I dont know, but that was the big deal. I will explain more if you want me to do a spoiler review later...

Earth One
Now here come the total grade overall. Now, after sitting there for 2 hours and 30mins, I enjoy it. I really enjoy it, but is it the BEST?...no, but is it the WORST? no...I am going to say it the BEST since the first Superman, but not the biggest Blockbuster movie of the summer. It is enjoyable. I love it a lot and I will watch it again. Remember this is going to be a trilogy, and most trilogy start off with the first movie is good/okay then second is THE BEST and 3rd is good/okay.
BUY/RENT

The feeling of my fanboys of SUPERMAN telling me to give it a MIGHTY THUMB UP, but put it aside I'm giving it a BUY/RENT rating. Here the reason, If you know the outline of Superman or die hard superman fan, you will enjoy it. If you keep an open mind about Zack's movies...you will like it. However, if you take movie too seriously, you will hate it, if you put comic book into this too seriously you going to hate it. Oh, by the way, some of the part of this movie was from the comic book called "Earth One: Superman" kinda of an emo style. Also, does all the comic movies follow the comic book? Just saying...So, in the end. I like it as a Fanboy or not, I am going to buy it on Blu-ray for SURE and put it togethers with my other Superman movies (1-4...I threw the 5th in the trash because it was a shitting ass movie). I am also willing to see a 2nd Superman movie and a JLA movies (if that ever happen)

QUESTION OF THE BLOG: Should I do a spoiler review of this movie? Comment below...
